  3. 4. In the HIV awareness PSA, the creator is uses repetition and symbolism to get a point across. At first I became frustrated, "Why is this candle/match image repeating over and over?" When the first text arrives on the screen, the message is far more powerful than it would have been alone. That 'insignificant' repetition suddenly became very significant as it was clear that a candle signified someone living with HIV. I wonder how I can use this technique in my own PSA on bullying? Does anyone have any ideas?

  4. The one with the HIV video shows symbolism which is the candle which shows how much fire it takes to turn on many candles about how many people get HIV.

  6. The video about fast food informs consumers about how the food we eat can affect us using statistics. The video isn't necessarily trying to stop us the consumers from eating the food, instead it's just informing us so that we know what we're eating. - Kathy Tavarez, 9LE

  7. The PSA on the consumption of heroin is very strong, and it clearly sets an audience and a message they want to send to everyone. However, if I was the author of this PSA I would have made the actions of the women a little less violent, because she is trying to show a clear message, but the message came about in a crazy way. The viewer might find the women a little insane by her actions. -Erika Cabrera

    1. Erika, I noticed how in you said that the topic that is used in the PSA about heroin is very strong and it demonstrates clearly the message that the author wants to show, and I agree with you. The actions of the women were a little too violent but it still got the message out to the audience. In addition, I think it's great how you went even further and suggested something that the author could have done to improve his PSA.

  8. The PSA about stoping HIV is a very good PSA. The PSA captured your attention with the music it used. Also it showed a statistic for the amount of people who have HIV. The numbers were very suprising because it was so high that is why this PSA was good.

    1. I am aware how the PSA gives "catchy" music but, I think many people are being thrown off by the fact that there is a huge amount of people that are suffering everyday due to HIV. I understand that the music and the statistic will shock us and we will remember the astonishing fact. However, the director planned to make this PSA to have a impact towards its audience and take a stand against HIV. Many received the impact but, did not acquire the feel to fight against HIV. Yes the PSA was "good" but, was it good enough?

  9. The PSA focused on heroin uses symbols, such as the egg symbolizing a brain and the frying pan symbolizing heroin. This PSA has a direct path towards the audience and you feel as if the narrator is talking directly at you. I think the director/author of this PSA did a good job trying to make the audience avoid heroin by showing the violent acts. The author also put ethos because the actress was shown as if she went through the whole process of her life shattering apart. Due to, she was given credibility.

    2. I think your response was good. I do think that the director symbolism with the frying pan and the egg.its true they wanted to show credebility with the woman because she acted like she had done it before.

  10. The PSA on heroin uses figurative language to pass on a strong point to the audience. It includes metaphors such as the pan being the heroin and the egg being your brain. The woman uses the pan to squash the egg which represents how the use of heroin can affect a person's brain, family, and their life. This PSA was strong because of how different types of figurative language were used. -Arlene Salcedo♥ 9LE

  11. the PSA where the girl smashes the egg with the pan and then destroys everything. the metaphor of the egg being your brain and the pan is heroin shows how powerful metaphors can explain a meaning in a lots of ways. Keanu Abreu

  12. The PSA on Cleaning Our Beaches catches your attention within the first few seconds of the PSA. As the director of the PSA used a song that is known, it helps demonstrate and create more interest for the audience of the PSA. Next, the first pictures are shown as a form of ethos by being very emotional and impacting toward many people and make the audience think "What could have possibly caused so much damage?"

    1. Anthony, I like how you specifically said what type of persuasion the author of the PSA used to try and convince the audience to prevent this damage from occurring once again. I also like how you realized that the author uses specific techniques to catch the audience's attention in the first few seconds of the PSA. You analyzed great! I most definitely agree with you.

  13. The PSA about the candles being lit represents the people living with HIV in world. This is a very powerful emotional video because a candle was lit for each individual living with HIV in the world. It took them exactly 384days, 6hours, and 12minutes to light a candle for everyone. The video want you to prevent HIV from increasing the rate of people living with HIV by bringing awareness to the amount of people that actually are living with HIV. It makes the audience think twice before having unsafe sex with the sad tone of the video.

    2. Aneurys, I agree with you, this is a very powerful and emotional PSA. I didn't look at the PSA in a way of bringing awareness to people to have safe sex but this is a really good point. -Kathy Tavarez, 9LE

  14. The PSA that spoke about the effects of heroin uses different techniques to shows how it can negatively affect the human body. By using the egg, the viewer is given the idea that by using heroin you are harming your body and destroying it little by little. This PSA shows how you can use various symbols and ways to express an idea to the world. By doing this PSA, the creator is trying to change the way people think and it’s trying to make them think twice before they do something because it can either be a smart choice, or a choice that you will regret all your life.

  15. The PSA that captured me in time was the video about HIV. It really captured the elements that explained what the film maker wanted to send. A specific detailed that captured me and that was very specific was when the film maker included the exact time it would take the video. It was very very awesome. We should learn from this to make our videos ATTRACTIVE!!!~Byron Garcia, 9LE

    1. Byron, I agree with what you think about the HIV PSA. At first when I saw the video, I didn't understand what the meaning of the lighting was until towards the end of it. I believe that when people watch this video they will feel some type of way which will cause them to take action as soon as possible.

  16. The PSA that had the candle really stood out to me. This PSA set the mood , the fact that it played over and over really had me frustrated, and actually almost mad which makes me want to think about HIV, and make me look more closely on how HIV comes to be so I can prevent it happening to me, and the people around me.

  17. Maddie! The PSA with the candle takes more days, hours and minutes to light up a candle. Also the candle represents people's HIV in the world.

  22. The PSA about H.I.V was very powerful in the sense that it gave statistics but also used an image to represent something deeper. I think the way that the person who created the PSA used an image to represent the fact that the lives of actual humans and people who are part of communities and families are being put at stake and in the way of danger. These PSAs each had something different about them that stood out, and stayed with me after viewing them. This goes to show that we need something to catch the viewers attention, state a clear messege and show them why the issue is worth taking a stand on.

  23. This PSA shows how around the world there is people that are affected by all these types of problems that affect a lot of people. Me personally this message means we have to stand up and don't be afraid to defend someone because if you do not only one person feels great but a lot much more feel happier

  27. The SPA where the women is showing what happens when smoking or using drugs I thought was a good SPA. I really enjoyed the part where she asked for question at the end and her doing the action while talking. I am unsure of how is the smashing lots the plate connect to the friends and family?
