This video does a good job of getting its meaning across. The only problem with the video was that it did not use enough facts to get its point across. It was just showing and not enough backing up evidence.
ReplyDeleteIn the category of evidence I think the writer approaches the target. There is not alot of statistics but has a good and clear example of a family struggling to get water. I believe that next time they should use more statistics because they only used one.

One thing that this PSA can improve on is that it isn't a local topic or something specific it's more of a general and worldwide issue.

The water shortage PSA meets expectations in Author's Craft: Elements of Persuasion. The PSA includes persuasion using pathos to create emotions for the audience by asking if they want to be part of the solution by giving the call-to-action and giving them a site to start donations that go towards the process of cleaning water. The author also puts the audience into the character's positions by telling us to imagine drinking dirty water like the people in the PSA were. The PSA is convincing, but it is missing a little more persuasion to get people to start donating some money!
ReplyDeleteThis PSA receives a between Meets and Approaches on the rubric's category Focus. It does have a local and specific issue that they focus on, but the only set back is that this PSA gives the audience only 2 pieces of evidence. The message is clear, as soon as you get to the ending; but the beginning of it doesn't start out with a clear purpose. But, the idea is thought out well; the way they showed the message in the end was a done well to show how people all over the world don't have access to clean water.
ReplyDeleteThe author of this Public Service Announcement has a clear beginning, middle and end as it clearly demonstrates the topic throughout the entire PSA. The author does a really good job engaging us with a hook by using a weird event happening in New York City and the music demonstrates that something is happening and it makes the audience want to continue watching the PSA.

The water shortage PSA has a good structure and organization. The message is shown clearly in the PSA they want to help people get more healthy and clean water. The end of the PSA was good because it has a call to action. The author put a website where people can help solve this problem. I would give this PSA a 3/4 in structure and organization.
ReplyDeleteIn this PSA, I think that they are approaching, the evidence and explanation part of the PSA. I think that they are approaching this part of the PSA because they only had one piece of evidence, the evidence was specific and was relevent to the PSA however they didn't used enought evidence and this is why I think that they are only approaching in this specific part of the PSA.

ReplyDeleteThe water storage PSA exceeds expectation in the Structure and Organization. The director includes a clear beginning, middle, and end that develops a well-focused message. It also engages the audience with a hook which is the background music and when the adult along with the child go down the steps with the gallon. They also develop a PSA with well-timed text and media evidence and concludes the PSA with a clear and relevant call to action including both a number and an online website. The PSA was 60-90 seconds long, and I was engaged during the whole time as well as the other students in my class. -Arlene Salcedo ♥.
ReplyDeleteThe PSA presented does not show a lot of writing. The quality is okay but it has room for improvement. The PSA can improve by added various sources. These sources are meant to emotionally appeal to the audience, for instance an example of a family can be shown and everything they must go through in order to get this water. They can also add facts about what would happen to our human bodies and our health if we were the ones who drank the dirty water daily. While the PSA does use some persuasive parts when talking about the billions of people that have to drink this water, more statistics could have also been added. Where does drinking of this dirty water happen?

I think this PSA is approaching, in elements and persuasion because even though the creator used some techniques of persuasion, it could have been a lot stronger and convincing to the viewing audience. The creator of this PSA used ethos, to show emotions in the characters. For example, the mother of the children looked unhappy because her family had to drink dirty water, also the children didn’t look happy either. Overall I think this PSA is good, approaches the target of elements and persuasion.
ReplyDeleteThe author of this PSA get a "approaches target" on element of persuasion because the author had did a nice job on doing an emotional appeal. Somethings the author can do is that adding more fact up to at least five more. Also The person can add some ethos.

When it comes to the explanation and the evidence, it is in the approaching zone because there could have been more evidence included so that the people have a better idea and agree with what he is trying it prove
ReplyDeleteThe water shortage PSA deserves between a exceeding and a Meets the expectation in Structure and Organization. I believe the PSA meets the topic because in the beginning it leaves the audience wondering on what the PSA is going to be about. However, the mystery on what the PSA is going to be about gives you a hook towards the PSA because you would like to know what are those gallons for and how does it relate to the PSA. The message in the beginning of the PSA is very blurry but, as the PSA goes on the structure becomes less of a blur.

I would give this PSA in evidence and explanation a 2 because it didn't really give me a lot of information about where does this conflict happens , and more evidence about what this type of water does to you.

The director should of add more evidence and add examples. Finally the psa doesn't explain the cause of the dirty water but it did add the effect. This psa need relevant, specific, and accurate evidence to support his/ hers evidence.

Also, it uses logos when it says that one billion people around the world drink water like that. It doesn't exceed because it doesn't use ethos so it has no credibility.

ReplyDeleteThe clean water PSA meets elements in persuation as far as pathos are concerned. it uses pathos to see if people would like to be a part of getting clean water by visiting a website that is given at the end of the PSA. the creator of this PSA also makes us feel as we were part of the film by saying imagine drinking that water, in other words, being the people in the film drinking the water. to make this PSA better, the author should include a person speaking about drinking this dirty water so that the audience could be a little more convince to donating money..

I think that the PSA has very convincing evidences for example when she was poring the water to the cup it was very convincing that the water was not clean at all. the PSA uses logos as an example the words they use and call for action,they also use pathos to show they took a stand.

ReplyDeleteI think that this PSA meets standers based on the rubric. i think this because it only shows about 3-4 facts but the facts aren't that relevant. Also the facts are not that clear to the audience until the very end. Finally the topic is a much more worldwide topic instead of LOCAL!

I think that this needed a little bit more facts about how we can all try and stop letting people drink dirty water. I give this a low , but a high 2.

Well, I think this PSA does show some creativity. Although it does do a great job at showing great meaning, I think what is a weak spot in this is that is contains no type of evidence or statistics. I think a positive aspect of this is the pursuation that it implys and portrays through the people of a community.
